Numbers play a major—and often necessary—role in our systems of education, but they bring with them inherent limitations. What role have numbers played on your educational journey? How have they influenced the way you know and feel about yourself?
How have you worked to overcome the barcodes that have been applied to you? Who has supported you in this work? What do you need to engage in this work? How can the system change to require less work?
Have you experienced personal growth after a shame experience? What enabled that growth? What hindered it?
Consider these questions. What in our systems of education need to change for us to grapple with the realities created by our reliance on numbers? What specific actions can you take (or advocate for) to enact this change?
